Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 10, 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Akeeli Group collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it.

It covers this website onlywww.theakeeligroup.com, including the contact form and the client portal. Information we handle in the course of a professional investigative engagement is governed by your engagement agreement with us and by the laws that apply to that work; see Investigative engagements below.

Who we are

The Akeeli Group is a licensed Texas private investigation firm (Lic. #A-06984) at 1800 Saint James Place, Suite 303, Houston, TX 77056. For any privacy question, contact info@theakeeligroup.com or 713.622.1567. We are the controller of the information described here.

Information we collect

Information you give us

Contact form. When you use our contact form we collect your first and last name, company, street address, city, state, ZIP code, email address, telephone number, and whatever you write in the message field. You may also attach files (PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, JPG, PNG or GIF). Everything you send is submitted voluntarily — please do not attach sensitive personal information, such as government identification numbers, unless we have asked you for it.

Client portal account. If you register for the client portal we collect your name, email address, company, and a password, which is stored only as a salted hash — we never store your password in readable form. New accounts are reviewed and approved by an administrator before they are activated, and we send a verification code to your email address to confirm it is yours.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs, which include your IP address, browser user-agent string, the pages requested, and the date and time of each request. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.

Cookies

This site does not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any similar third-party tracking.

We set one strictly necessary cookie: a PHP session cookie that keeps you signed in as you move between pages of the client portal. It is deleted when you log out or when your session expires.

Our contact, registration and login pages use Google reCAPTCHA to distinguish real visitors from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA is provided by Google and sets its own cookies and collects device and usage information under Google’s privacy policy. We receive only a pass/fail score, not the underlying data.

How we use your information

We use the information above to respond to your enquiry and provide the services you ask us for; to create, verify and administer your client portal account and show you the reports belonging to your company; to keep the site secure and prevent fraud and automated abuse; and to meet our legal, regulatory and professional-licensing obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use your information to send marketing email unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf, and only as needed to run the site and our services:

  • DreamHost — website and database hosting, and email delivery for messages sent from the site.
  • Google — reCAPTCHA anti-abuse protection, as described above.
  • Airtable — the platform through which report deliverables are made available to client portal users.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government or regulatory authority, or where necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

How long we keep it

Contact form submissions and any files attached to them are retained as business correspondence for as long as needed to respond to and document the enquiry, and thereafter in line with our record-retention practices. Client portal accounts are retained for the life of the client relationship. Server logs are retained on the hosting provider’s standard schedule. You may ask us to delete material you have sent us, and we will do so unless we are required to retain it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Portal passwords are stored as salted hashes, portal access is restricted to approved accounts, and each client account can see only its own company’s reports. Database credentials and API keys are held outside the public web directory.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you need to send us sensitive documents, contact us first and we will arrange a more appropriate method than the website contact form.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, to provide a copy, or to delete it. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act; residents of other states and countries may have comparable rights under their own laws. To make a request, email info@theakeeligroup.com. We will verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time your applicable law allows.

Some rights are limited where the information is held in connection with an investigative engagement or where the law requires or permits us to retain it.

Children

This site is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Investigative engagements

Personal information that we collect, receive or develop while performing investigative, background screening or due-diligence work for a client is not covered by this website policy. That information is handled under the terms of our engagement agreement with the client and under the federal and Texas laws that govern licensed investigative work and the permissible use of regulated data sources.

If you are the subject of an investigation or a background report and you have a question about information held about you, write to info@theakeeligroup.com. What we are able to disclose depends on the nature of the engagement and on our legal obligations, which may prevent us from confirming or discussing a particular matter.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here.
